The Mother Who Stood By The Lord Praying
One of the greatest secrets of parental success and for the future of our children is wrapped up in this first chapter of 1 Samuel. There is no other place in Scripture which has as much depth to the challenge to parents as this one. “I am the woman that stood by you here praying unto the Lord” (verse 26).
The greatest tribute to any woman was given by Hannah, the mother of Samuel, a woman who determined to intercede and set the tone for her nation that would pave the way for one of the greatest prophets who ever lived.
One of the greatest things that the church needs today is not more suppers, committees, and programs. We need women and men who will hold onto that child and present him to the Lord. This woman revolutionized her world and brought about an era of prophecy that would lead the nation of Israel as no one else could ever do.
This woman, Hannah, prayed for God to give her a child and then she made a deal with God. “If you will give me a child, I will give him back to you as long as he lives” 1 Samuel 1:24-28
