Easter 2024: “I See Him Coming”

Even though Jesus had told His followers about the sacrifice He would make, they still didn’t understand and were totally disillusioned when He was crucified. They were even more confused when reports from several of the women came early the following Sunday morning that the tomb was empty. In disbelief and confusion, two disciples left Jerusalem for Emmaus–not having heard that the risen Jesus had appeared to several different individuals. It wasn’t until a stranger explained to them what the prophets had declared centuries earlier did they grasp that Jesus was indeed who He claimed to be. The kingdom promises to Israel would be fulfilled, but first sin had to be dealt with—as well as the inclusion of the Gentiles into God’s plan for humanity.
